It was already an automobile that could put range anxiety to mattress, but the 2025 Lucid Air Pure will be even more energy-efficient than earlier.
The electric vehicle startup Lucid Motors announced significant updates to its 2025 Air lineup this morning, with the most notable changes affecting the base model, the Pure.
These updates include improved efficiency, additional standard equipment, and an unchanged price.
The 2025 Air Pure will now feature a slightly smaller battery pack, reduced from 88 kWh to 84 kWh. Despite the reduction, the vehicle achieves greater range through improved mechanical and electrical efficiency.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rated the 2025 Pure for 420 miles on a single charge, an increase from the previous 419 miles, when equipped with 19-inch wheels.
Justin Berkowitz, Lucid’s senior manager for technology PR, explained that the efficiency improvements result from both hardware and software advancements.
The inclusion of a newly standard heat pump, along with enhanced motor operation software, contributes significantly to the increased range and efficiency.

These changes mark a significant milestone for Lucid Motors, positioning the Pure as potentially the most efficient production car in the world.
Originally launched last year to broaden the appeal of the Air lineup, the entry-level Pure initially had a price tag of $78,900, including a $1,500 destination fee.
This price was later reduced to $71,400 for the rear-drive version, and it will remain at this price for the 2025 model. In addition to improved efficiency, the Pure will come with more standard equipment, adding further value without increasing the cost.
The higher-trim versions of the Air lineup, the Touring and Grand Touring, will see fewer changes compared to the Pure. However, both trims will experience a $1,000 price increase for the 2025 models.
Lucid Motors has faced significant challenges in recent months, including high interest rates and limited public demand for luxury electric sedans.
The company reported a loss of $685 million in Q1 and has been offering incentives to boost sales.
As a result, it’s currently possible to purchase a Lucid Air for less than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) or secure a favorable lease deal. The updates to the 2025 Pure may also make leftover 2024 models more attractive to potential buyers.
With these updates, Lucid Motors aims to enhance the value and appeal of its Air lineup, particularly the entry-level Pure.
By improving efficiency and adding standard features while maintaining the same price, Lucid hopes to attract more buyers and strengthen its position in the competitive electric vehicle market.
